Introducing: Moe Nicole... the DOCTORAL CANDIDATE! Here's my testimony!

As of April 21, 2021 I have officially passed ALL of my Written and Oral comprehensive exams; making me officially a Doctoral Candidate!

2020 was a TOUGH YEAR for me… if you haven’t heard me say it many times before (haha!). The pandemic not only hit my business hard, it also hit me hard as a student. Going from in-person learning to online was a very difficult transition for me to manage on top of other life responsibilities. I would spend hours each day trying to grasp concepts that felt foreign and I hated it. Having people telling me everything they felt I was doing wrong, didn’t help either.

No one seemed to understand what I was going through, other than my therapist, so I rolled with the punches. Major shoutout to my therapist, I can’t thank you enough!

I was actually supposed to take my comps Fall 2020, but had to push them back due to unforeseen circumstances. I refused to give up though. I was determined to complete what I had started, even if I didn’t have a desire to work in education anymore.

The research I plan to complete (topic: trauma-informed care) will be something I can use on my entrepreneurial journey and I’m happy to had finally found a space to alchemize my passion from my educational journey.

I will not be rushing this process and plan on taking a break before going back to school to complete the dissertation process ( I have a good reason for this! STAY TUNED! :-D).

I just wanted to take the moment and celebrate myself for making it this far, alone.

Here’s to the journey!
