Grieving a heartbreak

Let me be the first to tell you, I’ve had my fair share of difficult experiences that have turned into learning opportunities. They didn’t feel like a learning opportunity, and I for sure was not ready to hear how beneficial that hurt was to me!

I grew up hearing the phrase “life is all about learning from the difficult experiences.”

Let me be the first to tell you, I’ve had my fair share of difficult experiences that have turned into learning opportunities. They didn’t feel like a learning opportunity, and I for sure was not ready to hear how beneficial that hurt was to me… while I was going through it.

When you’re going through a heartbreak, it feels like your heart and soul is withering. You’re stuck trying to figure out if it was something that you did, or something you should’ve done in effort to keep it going. It’s like a whirlwind of emotions are swarming through your body demanding your attention for however long you allow them too.

Overcoming heartbreak is similar to grieving the loss of a loved one. Breaking up is another form of mourning and it deserves its due process all the same. We can’t put a time limit on it. We can’t rush the process. Sometimes, we feel better a month later…. for some; it can take years.

If you’re going through any type of heartbreak… give yourself grace. It’s my hope that one day, you too, will be able to say: I SURVIVED. In the meantime, allow yourself to feel what you are feeling and may you push through to the other side.

Peace & Love

Finding Peace in your storms....Here's the secret to our happiness!

I grew up with the phrase, “when it rains it pours” and boy is it correct?! It seems like as soon as one thing goes wrong here comes a slew of other things that want to begin messing up. But I have found the cure!

Life has this crazy way of coming crashing down and changing everything around that you have planned so perfectly. Not only does it seem like problems tend to arise from out of no-where; it seems like they all begin to pile up at the same time.

I grew up with the phrase, “when it rains it pours” and boy is it correct?! It seems like as soon as one thing goes wrong here comes a slew of other things that want to begin messing up. But I have found the cure!

One day, I was sitting and thinking about this rhetoric and it then hit me. The reason why it seems like the storm gets much harder is because that is what we are focusing on. Whatever we give the most attention to is what will be magnified in front of us.

I have come to learn that the main ingredient to getting through difficult storms is learning how to find peace in the midst of the storm. Focus your positive energy on what IS GOING RIGHT in your life. There is always something. Are you able to see, smell, hear, and walk? Even if you are unable to do some of these things; there are things you are able to do and they deserve to be celebrated.

The more we celebrate the good things in our life; the easier it becomes to get through our storms. I challenge you to start every one of your days with 3 Things You Are Thankful For.

That should help in more ways than one. By focusing on what is going good, we are then activating our will to MAKE things better around us. We have a stronger push to not give up. I wish you peace & love on this journey of living out loud!
