Why YOUR journey matters most

When I was thinking about this blog post, I was considering dedicating it to suicide awareness week. This is a week that has a soft place in my heart and will always be a cause that I believe continuously deserves important discussions.

But, as I thought further, I realized that the message extends far beyond the awareness of an epidemic. It’s a message of acceptance, understanding, and living in your personal uniqueness. These same indicators are oftentimes the same indicators that will make a person believe that they are not good enough and not worthy of life.

It’s so easy to compare ourselves in the current world we live in. We have statistics telling us where we should be, on a spectrum that compares us to our peers and other generations.

We have social media and the internet to keep our senses constantly stimulated, to the point where it becomes difficult to disconnect and detox.

With all of this accessibility, it can become easy to feel as if you aren’t doing enough if you aren’t progressing at the speed society tells you that you “should” be.

Beloved, it’s all a smoke screen. We are the conductors of our life and the journey it takes to get to a destination can not be measured in quality and quantity equally against others.

You are EXACTLY where you are supposed to be right now. There is not more you “should” be doing, but your best everyday. Somedays, your best is getting out the bed, grooming yourself, eating, and lounging the rest of the day. On others, your best is completing a long list of to-do items.

You are the determinant of what is important.

What you want matters.

What you like matters.

Your journey matters.

You’re one of a kind.
