How to believe in yourself after losing friends and family

Most of them don’t really like what it is you’re promoting. They are simply supporting just because it is you. Little do you know, this actually hurts you more than it helps you.

When we are pursuing various goals in our life, support is the biggest thing we tend to seek out on the journey. Most times, our first supporters are usually friends and family because of the blind loyalty in the relationship.

Guess what?

Most of them don’t really like what it is you’re promoting. They are simply supporting just because it is you. Little do you know, this actually hurts you more than it helps you.

I had to learn the hard way

As I continued to evolve and show the real me, the true intentions and feelings of others became more apparent. They were supporting me because of who they wanted me to be and not because of WHO I WAS.

That made it easy to say bye!

The year 2020 was the ultimate year for me in walking in who I was. I went through a tragic breakup with a soulmate, the pandemic crashed my business, and friends and family began showing their true colors when I was in a low space.

Instead of encouraging me, they used that time to beat me down more… to tell me all the things they had been holding in for so long. As much as it hurt at first, I was already in therapy, so I was prepared.

They had to go!

Believing in yourself after losing people who you thought were in your corner can be quite difficult…. BUT THERE IS A RAINBOW at the end of the tunnel. The way to turn it into a rainbow is simple…

Let me tell you a secret…

It’s important for us to become an Alchemist and transform the pain into purpose. Start looking at everything that happens in your life as a LESSON and OPPORTUNITY to turn it into gold. Look inside yourself and understand that most times the problem is not you, but with their perception of reality. In the book The Four Agreements, one of the agreements is to not take things personal and to realize most people project their feelings onto you.

Everyone is going through their own journey and most ARE NOT living in their personal truths. Instead of working on their areas of concern, they look for others to dispel their energy onto.

We have to Live out Loud!

In my book Live out Loud, I go in-depth on how to follow your purpose, even if it gets hard. This book will change your mind and life FOREVER as you learn how to L.I.V.E.

What is the hardest part of letting go, for you?

Let me know in the comments!

I'm breaking up with Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter for good!

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, honestly. I spent the time journaling, talking to God, meditating, and….

For the Aries new moon, I did an intense fast. Well, it may not be considered intense to some… but for me, it was quite hefty! Especially, cold turkey! For 3 days, I went without:

  • My Phone (calls, texting, music)

  • TV

  • All Social Media sites

  • No internet surfing

  • No people

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, honestly. I spent the time journaling, talking to God, meditating, and planning content for my YouTube channel. For those 3 days, I had the most vivid dreams and I got sooooooo much content planned and recorded.

I came back for 1 day, before realizing, it was time to officially break-up with Social Media. This entire time, I was living in a facade of reality. When I thought about my analytics and even my business traction; very few customers came from my daily posts and videos.

It was nice to communicate with others but it was taking a toll on me.

The way the applications work, they reward you when you post and scroll more…. and it was becoming too much for my mental health and productivity. I was tired of just being something to see and entertain, whenever I came across someone’s feed. I got tired of tracking my engagement numbers to keep my media kit updated for sponsors. The vanity metrics were too much and I wish I could just turn them all off.

I’m finally ready to live and enjoy my life without others knowing what my every move is and without posting for others to simply be nosey or market. Or even the continuous traumatic news. It’s honestly not good for mental health.

Here’s to living life again!

This was a long time coming and I can’t wait to live without technology running my everyday! Have you ever taken a break from social media? Have you ever felt like you needed one?

Check out this video below to see if you need a break from social media too!
